Holly Kendall

Holly lives and works on Cammeraygal land in Sydney, where the natural environment deeply informs her art. Her practice centres on abstraction, offering an intuitive way to explore themes of legacy, connection, and memory.

In her Earth and Salt series, Holly investigates the feelings and memories that places leave within us. Her work draws on time spent in nature and the powerful ways that place imprints itself on the senses. Much like the scent of cut grass can transport us to a specific moment in time, her paintings seek to evoke those fleeting experiences of connection and recollection through colour, texture, and layered surfaces.

Holly’s process often begins with tissue paper collage, laying down the first impressions in ink. From there, she builds depth through translucent glazes, washes, and veils of acrylic, allowing each layer to carry part of the story. Her work offers an opportunity to pause, feel, and remember.

Holly’s work has resonated with collectors in Australia and internationally. She has exhibited in both solo and group shows, including Artists of Mosman: 2088 (2024), Uniquely Us (2025), and prominent Sydney art fairs. She was also a finalist in the 2024 NBG Art Prize. Her first solo exhibition, Earth & Salt, will take place in September 2025 at The Working Dog Gallery in St Leonards, Sydney.

“I love the connection I make with collectors of my art. It brings me joy to know that something in the work resonates, that it stirs an emotion or a memory they hold close.”
